Musicality

A whole new musicality

Over the years that I have played music with many master class musicians I to my surprise never really took the time to find out what the best guitar would be for my given style. I've played a Stratocaster and a Gibson 345 (like in the Apple ad) and never really inquired as to what would be the best guitar for a rhythm guitar player. Well last weekend I went and found someone that took me on a tour of what I have been so close to but never tried out as an instrument of choice. It turned out it is a very common guitar that many rhythm guys play a Telecaster. Well after I brought it home I found a whole new level of music came out of the experience. I hope to share it soon. The guitar was made by Keith Holland a local producers of fine guitars.

Creativity - Music and Video Production

I had a conversation with Michael Verdi today about distributed production and how any one of us that produces video might be pretty good at a lot of the pieces, but a team of us coming together to produce a video can take advantage of each of our strengths so the production value is even better than if we did it alone. As an example my musician skills are where my strength is, not as much in editing or filming, while there are others that are great at editing or filming.

I found the same thing when I played music in a band. I was the writer and rhythm guy and there were other great musicians that played other instruments much better than I could. This is what makes a great band, it's all about how these complimentary skills come together. I found the same thing in so many places in my business career.

We're finding this is happening inside of Outhink Media as we have pulled together a great technical team, a great group of videobloggers and a couple of older business guys who know how to connect artists and revenue streams.

Back to video, music, storytelling, distributed production. We have been working hard to do what we can to help people in different locations with different skills come together to produce compelling content. Please join us in trying to figure this out. We can only do it if we serve the independent producer well. Let us know how we can be of service.

Carp Caviar Promo

My good friend Markus Sandy and I collaboratively produced this short little promo for Carp Caviar using the new SpinXpress II. What fun! Thanks to Erik Nelson for hosting this wonderful event again this year.

The music is one of the pieces I published here some time back and the video was captured using my other favorite new tool: Snapz Pro X.

I love screencasting and so here is a little one I based on last years Carp Caviar promos. I "spun" it to Markus and he added the titles and the audio (thanks bro!).

Really!!!!!!!

Well, I'm waiting as we sometimes do for the ability to take our creative efforts and have them
translated for us, sometimes the translation takes some twists and turns that are unexpected, sometimes new creations emerge and sometimes they get stalled in the process. As soon as "it's ready" I'll be back!

More to Come

I'll be adding some additional tracks in the next couple of weeks that you can have and do what you please with, commercially or not, share alike or not, remix or not, really whatever you want as this really is all about keeping a conversation going between us.

Early remix May 2005

Click to play
Please join me for a sunset in Big Sur California. There is a lot of talk about remix and mash ups
going on out there, more on this later. For today I wanted to start with a very simple post that hopefully will stimulate others to grab the sound track and add your own contibution to it. The goal is to pass it along using SpinXpress to collaborate with others so we can come back together in a few days and see what happens with the original melody. We'll bring some more sounds and images in the coming weeks. Have some fun.
